Writing Santa Letters is a very exciting activity for children. Receiving letters from Santa is even more exciting, especially for the children who have asked questions about how Santa Clause does all the wonderful things that make him so unique and special. One of the things that children ask most often is how he makes his reindeer fly. While there is many theories about how this miracle is accomplished, there is only one true answer. Since Santa Clause, like a true magician, is reluctant to give up his secrets, here are the five most likely explanations.
Magic Dust There have been many movies that show the reindeer flying and in some of these, a magical dust born of a wizard who lived in the extreme North around the time that Christmas first started is used to get those reindeer airborne. The legend goes that Santa had to travel across this relatively mean wizards land to get to a town he delivered toys to. When confronted by the wizard, Santa convinced him of his cause and showed him the error of his ways. As a thank you, he gave Kriss Kringle the formula to make this magic dust to use on reindeer. The wizard was using flying reindeer to pull his chariot at the time.
Elvin Magic It is said that elves have been around longer than humans. They ruled vast empires and covered the land before retreating to the frozen North as was foretold by their elder elves. They took their magic with them and used this magic to create a city beneath the ice away from the humans whom they admired and loved. The elves felt that they were here to help humankind to get started but their numbers were so greatly diminished, by the harsh winters that only a handful survive. These elves are helping Santa to spread joy throughout the world and it is their remaining magic that allows Santa to do the things he does, including making reindeer fly.
The Christmas Reindeer It is possible that these reindeer could already fly. They could be the last remnants of a breed that now only exist at the North Pole. They were very close to becoming extinct when Santa Clause found them and is helping them make a comeback. Unfortunately, Santa knows what would happen to them should they spread. Can you imagine a flying reindeer-hunting season? I shudder to think about it.
Santa’s Magic Many people speculate that Santa is an Elvin King and as such, is already in possession of all the magic he needs to make reindeer fly, produce toys without material, round the globe overnight and pop up and down chimneys, even when there is no chimney to pop up and down. This makes sense in that he looks like an elf and there are no elves around when he does magic on Christmas eve, at least, in theory. When I saw Santa leave from our 1989 interview, he had an elf with him in the sleigh. Maybe the elves travel with him on Christmas Eve.
The Christmas Spirit The most likely explanation of all, and the one that he gave to me during an interview in the late 80s, is that it is the spirit of Christmas that gives him his power and allows the reindeer to fly. Unlike the movies, which would lead you to believe that there is less Christmas spirit every year, Santa told me that as long as there are children, the spirit of Christmas will never die and it is that spirit that gives mankind dominance over the world.

One of the things your child loves to do at Christmas is to write a Personalized Santa Letter. They are especially happy when they receive in return a personalized letter from Santa. There are other projects that you can introduce into your seasonal traditions that are fun for the kids, fun for the parents, and bring the whole family together. These projects instill Christmas spirit and encourage children to be creative. Christmas is all about family and having fun. Here are a few of the things that you can do together to help the entire family enjoy Christmas together.
Arts and Crafts are a great way to get everyone involved in a Christmas project. They do not have to be expensive either. There are stores that specialize in unpainted ceramics and pottery. These statues and figurines have already been made, fired in a kiln (a pottery oven) and are ready to paint. Buy one or two of these for each member of your family. Purchase Christmas oriented pieces such as Santa Clause figures, reindeer, and Christmas bells or anything else that is related to the Christmas season. You can find acrylic paint at almost any hobby store relatively inexpensive. You will also need a pack of brushes. The small paintbrushes that come with the paint by numbers paint sets are perfect for this kind of project.
As a general rule, each family member gets two statuettes or larger sized ceramic items, and several smaller ones like Christmas ornaments. We all sit at the table together with the paint in the center so that we can share and we have ceramic paint parties. This way, we can help each other choose the colors that we think would look good on each piece and we spend quality time together drinking cocoa, listening to Christmas music, and painting Christmas ceramics. It is something that we look forward to every year and we will never outgrow it. The finished products are a great way of decorating your home for Christmas and make great gifts so we wind up saving money while having a great time together as a family.
Another way to spread that holiday joy is to have karaoke and cocoa parties. Have your children invite their friends and break out the karaoke machine. We get together and sing Christmas carols half the night. The best fun you can have with your kids is to form a choir and have everyone sing along together. You will be surprised at how much fun you can have doing this kind of activity with your children, The hot cocoa keeps everyone from getting hoarse and keeps us nice and toasty inside.
Every year we buy new stockings and during the week of Christmas, we get together at that big family table and personalize our stockings with paste, different colored glitter, and magic markers. It is amazing how creative and imaginative kids can be. We even made one for our dog, Cutie Pie. There are so many wonderful things that you can do with your children to inspire their Christmas spirit and keep your family together. Any activity that you can enjoy as a family is a great, healthy way to keep everyone together and strengthen the family bond. Whether it is painting, singing, baking, or doing all three, (It can be done!) If you are all together, it is worth it.

As the saying goes – there is a first for everything.
There are first smiles, first words, first steps, first birthdays, first Christmases and many other firsts in our lives. You can remember these moments in little ways or grand ways but the choice celebration must be fitting for the occasion. To follow is a list of fantastic firsts in most of our lives that we should celebrate and some of the most common ways to celebrate them:
Babies’ First: The first smile is always hard to capture on camera – but those that follow are not. Make sure you always have a camera on hand for the next ones and find a baby book or photo frame to show it off in. Baby’s first tooth…as aways is a special one. Ideally you will take a photo of that budding pearly white AND you will find a creative storage facility for it. Again baby books with envelopes are are great for this. But if you happen to have an issue with keeping the tooth – a great way to remember this moment is with an First Tooth Ornament. Same goes for first steps, ornaments are great for that occasion too.
Beyond all of the great baby’s first moments you can celebrate, there are other fantastic moments in life as well. Sticking with the theme of ornaments – the first Christmas ornaments world is full of fantastic firsts.
Kids First Sports Leagues are GREAT to celebrate. There are plenty of photo frames for those team or individual photos. But scrapbooking can tell the full story of the first sports league a little more vividly as well. Even if you don’t know how to scrapbook – you can always pay someone to do it for you. Then you can use a shadow box frame to preserve it – or start a full scrapbook album.
Another great first to celebrate is a First Vacation / Holiday. All first vacations and holidays are generally remembered by colorful photos – that’s a given…as a result it makes sense to put these in an album as well. In fact, today there are many albums designed with holiday themes in mind. BUT, there are also fantastic globes for many locations around the world (with fish, sparkles, flowers and all sorts of anti-snow confetti inside). And like all other occasions you can find great Travel Ornaments for your annual tree display as well. Speaking of Travel.
Speaking of travel, a hot new trend in celebrating firsts is New Drivers Ornaments. At OrnamentsandMore.com we see a lot of sales come through on this subject every day (throughout the year). It’s a great way to celebrate that special moment with/for a loved one – - without spending too much money.
Beyond Travel, as your friends and loved ones grow up – future firsts might include First Graduations / Careers and New Homes. Our research tells us that there are lots of creative photo frames and scrapbooking products on these subjects as well. And for those new grads personalized notepads, pens, briefcases and career appropriate items are also a great option. We have found that there are a lot more gift ideas for new homes than most though. Some gift ideas for new homes (apart from ornaments) is engraved door knockers, personalized mailboxes, personalized address plates, personalized door mats, custom flower beds/pots, named front porch chairs and all sorts of entry way show pieces. Historically speaking however, aside from all of the amazing first’s for baby.
The next hot topic has to go to couples! People will celebrate everything from a couples first Christmas to the engagement year, wedding dates and every special anniversary year as well. There are some traditional theories about what sort of gift should be given for milestone anniversary years, common to most nations are: 5th Wooden, 10th Tin, 15th Crystal, 20th China, 25th Silver, 30th Pearl, 40th Ruby, 50th Golden, 60th Diamond. Photo frames for these special occasions are available in most card and gift stores. But you can burnish, etch, engrave, hand paint, wrap with custom ribbons or simply post a heart shaped ornament or pendant in the matching gem/stone/element to bracelet, necklace or plaque to keep with tradition as well.
No matter what you are celebrating there is always something wonderful you can do it with!

As a parent, you know that kids cannot tell the difference between what they want and what they need. Let’s face it, kids just want the latest thing out there and are very highly influenced by what their friends are doing. You do not have the luxury of being able to buy everything they want or the time to research everything that comes along to make sure it is safe and that it teaches your children good habits rather than bad. The best that you can do is find alternative options and hope that it is entertaining and appreciated. Here are a few ideas that might get you through Christmas without too much drama.
Your child wants an electric guitar. It is wonderful that they are expressing an interest in music. It shows that they are looking for a creative outlet and that they have healthy dreams and a goal in mind. However, an electric guitar is about three steps too many and can be very expensive. A regular box guitar or a starter guitar is a much more sensible choice and explaining to the child that this is the way to start is easier than telling them you just can’t afford to purchase something that has a better than average chance of collecting dust under the bed before spring. Hint: give a “Guitar for Beginners” book and let them know that if they are diligent, and become proficient with the starter, there is an electric guitar in their future.
Video games that promote violence are not your cup of tea but your child would kill zombies for a living if it were possible. There are no easy ways to let down a child who has their heart set on a certain title but there is an option that will make the disappointment a little easier to bear. Sports games are fun, have plenty of action, and require the kind of skill that makes zombie killing pretty lame. If you are lucky enough to have a teen that is into the sports games, perfect. If not, get them started. They will get enough blood and gore on TV.
The problem with electronic gadgets is that they become obsolete every three months. The secret that the technological empire does not want you to know is that we jumped about fifty years on the technological front, which means a loss to the companies that control this market. Rather then make the products they are capable of making out on the leading edge of the technology, these companies are milking the market by advancing their products one small step or two at a time. Rather than purchasing these products for Christmas, sign you child up with a service that charges for the use and provides the equipment at a small charge and then let the child know his or her usage limitation. They are more apt to stay within affordable bounds if they know there is an upgrade waiting if and only if they do.
Designer shoes and clothes are one of the most sought after items not just at Christmastime but all year around. Sports figures that both you and your child admire are getting into the game at about a dozen a month and it is all but impossible to afford any of them. This is where the barter system comes into play. Let your teenager know in advance that you will look into getting either one complete, mid-range outfit that includes the shoes or two pair of shoes or two set of clothes. This way, the child knows what to expect and you do not worry yourself to death that they will be disappointed by getting something that they did not want or not getting it at all. Make them earn it with chores and tasks that make life easier for both of you.
Your little ones can be placated from nagging you with Santa Calls or Phone Calls from Santa before Christmas. (Yes, this service is available from reliable companies.) Your teen however, can be ruthless when it comes to begging for what they want rather than what they need. Be firm and let them know what to expect and the holidays will not put you into a holidaze.
Create Magic in your child's eyes with a phone call from Santa. EZSantaLetters.com live Santa Calls. is guaranteed to bring out the sparkle in their eyes and tears of joy in yours.

I do not know about you, but most people find Christmas shopping very stressful. Traipsing from shop to shop looking for presents for your list of loved ones. The jostling in the cold or the snow, but it does all seem worth it when you find something that you know will be appreciated by the recipient. One of the most popular kinds of gifts is clothing.
However, buying clothing is not easy either, unless you know the person concerned very well indeed. Some people are very particular about the colours and even the labels they wear. Some might get offended if you buy the wrong size, especially if you buy something a few sizes too big. The fabric can also cause a problem if the recipient is allergic to it.
Despite these complications, gifts of clothing are still popular, so I will give a few suggestions on buying clothing for others for novices, who will likely be mostly single young men.
Size is a problem for some articles of clothing like slacks, dresses, and blazers, whereas it is best to err in favour of the larger sizes if you are buying a sweater or a jumper as baggy jumpers and sweaters look good too and are even stylish. Men’s shirts on the other hand should be the correct size, while women’s blouses can be a size too big depending on the style of the blouse.
Neither shirts nor blouses may be too small, because they are uncomfortable and make it look as if the wearer has gained weight. Underwear has to fit properly too.
Therefore, when choosing clothing for someone whose size you are unsure of, pick one of the articles above for which the correct size is not too important. Otherwise you will have to ask the size from someone who might know. Large people often like to wear baggy clothing.
Colour is another complication, but the safest bet, if you do not know the recipient’s preferences is to get a colour that you have seen that person wearing most often. Otherwise, go for conventional colours such as a white shirt or blouse. Many largish people like to wear black too because it is thought to make the wearer appear thinner.
As for style, that is very awkward. One way you can get around this though is to point out a style, perhaps on TV or in a glossy magazine and say that you like it asking for the intended recipient’s opinion. If you are not in a position to do this because of distance or time, then you would be better off buying something conventional.
Traditional clothing does not go out of fashion as quickly as the latest fad. Or buy something that should be worn on holiday. I do not mean swim wear, but perhaps a smock or poncho that can be worn when one has had sufficient sun. They can be several sizes too big and height is almost more important than girth.
If you follow these guidelines you ought to be able to find some article of clothing for the people on you gift list.
Owen Jones, the writer of this article writes on quite a few topics, but is at present concerned with thinking about women’s panties. If you would like to know more or check out some great offers, please go to our website at Personalised Knickers.

What is the perfect Christmas gift for that “someone special” on your Christmas List? Don’t just wait till the last minute like last year! There is still time to do a bit of homework and really surprise them this year! Let us help you in your journey to ascertain that perfect gift…
a) The Boy Scouts have a motto, “Always be prepared”. This not only works for those cold nights on the camping trail, it is a good motto to have while you are compiling a Christmas List as well. Why? From this moment on, when you are around the person you plan to give a gift to, keep your eyes and ears open. This simple fact will often give you all you need to be able to ascertain that perfect gift for them. This is especially true if you happen to be in a store with them, and they are surrounded with “stuff” to buy. They will often pick something up and make a comment, such as:
“Sweet…I’ll remember this for the future”.
“If only I could afford this”.
“I could use this if it was in yellow”.
Remember to write these comments down when you get a free minute. Comments such as these are gold mines for great gift giving…
b) Does that “special someone” have a favorite hobby or pastime? Do they enjoy following a particular sports team, or partake of a particular hobby? If so, there is often something that you can get them to help them enjoy their pastime all that more. The key is, what is it? Even if you are not an expert on their pastime, there is someone out there who is. You could call up your local hobby store, or perhaps post a question on an internet forum. Ask them “what is the perfect gift for someone who enjoys “…fill in the blank…”? People love to talk about their hobbies, and I’m sure they would love to help you out.
c) Friends can be a literal goldmine of information on that “special someone”. Ask their closest friends for gift giving suggestions…but before you do, have some gift giving suggestions of your own. If you ask them directly they will often draw a blank, but by having a few suggestions of your own you can “jog their memory” a bit. It might be a good idea to bring along some photos or pictures of what you were thinking of getting. Why not cut out some pictures from an old catalog? The key is to “jog their memory”…they might have that perfect gift idea lurking in the back of their mind somewhere….
So, there you have it…three simple ideas on how to determine the perfect gift for someone on your Christmas List. If you would like more specifics on gift giving, and the latest “Hot Items” to get for Christmas this year, check out www.ExcellentChristmasList.com
